1. General Motors Corporation (Souvent appelée plus brièvement General Motors). Firme américaine de construction automobile, fondée en 1908. GMC produit aux EU les voitures de marque Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, etc. Ses filiales européennes sont Opel (Allemagne), Saab (Suède), Vauxhall (RU) En outre, elle possède des partenaires japonais : Isuzu, Subaru, Suzuki. Au total, cela procurait à la GMC un pouvoir sur un marché de plus de 13 millions de véhicules (en 2000), soit près de 25 % des ventes mondiales. Premier constructeur automobile mondial (devant Ford et Toyota), la General Motors est également la première société mondiale (toutes activités confondues) pour le chiffre d'affaire. Par ailleurs, les initiales GMC désignaient un camion tout-terrain de 2,5 t de capacité (plus encore, sur bonne route) et qui connut un succès considérable durant la Seconde Guerre mondiale: 9000 exemplaires construits en 1940, plus de 800000 en 1945. Il fut utilisé par l'armée américaine sur tous les fronts et livré à divers alliés (dont l'URSS).
2. Groupe de Musique Concrète. Fondé par Pierre Schaeffer vers 1950.
